Meridian does not act as your customs clearing agent. Under South African customs legislation, clearing agents must be licensed and located in South Africa, and a foreign principal must appoint a locally registered agent for customs purposes. We can help identify a licensed SA customs agent; engaging one remains your responsibility. Meridian's founder is not an admitted attorney, advocate, or conveyancer in South Africa, and nothing prepared by Meridian constitutes legal services as defined under South African law.
Meridian does not act as your customs agent for UK import declarations. Under UK customs regulations, a person acting as a customs agent must generally be established in the United Kingdom. We can help identify a UK-established customs agent; engaging one remains your responsibility. Meridian's founder is not a solicitor, barrister, or otherwise authorised to carry out reserved legal activities under the Legal Services Act 2007, and general commercial documentation prepared by Meridian is not legal advice.
Meridian does not act as your customs representative for EU import declarations. Under the Union Customs Code, customs representation generally requires establishment within the EU. We can help identify an appropriately established EU customs representative; engaging one remains your responsibility. Rules on the provision of legal services vary by EU member state; where you require legal advice, we recommend engaging counsel qualified in your relevant member state.
